Order Showtime, Get 2 Free Xbox Games

Posted in Deals on July 7th, 2005

For a limited time you can get two free Xbox games if you order Showtime from DirecTV. And unlike Showtime, the games don’t suck.

You’ll get to choose two of the following games:
FORZA MOTORSPORT™ / You are what you race / Rated E for Everyone
DESTROY ALL HUMANS™ / One giant step on mankind / Rated T for Teen
ATARI ANTHOLOGY™ / Over 85 arcade originals / Rated E for Everyone
MECHASSAULT®2: LONE WOLF / The massive destruction continues / Rated T for Teen

The rules are pretty simple, if you have to sign up for Showtime between June 20, 2005 and July 31, 2005. And you have to maintain your subscription until October 31, 2005. Okay so if you sign up on July 31st, you have to maintain your subscription for 3 months, that’s a total of $36 if you have no other premium channels.

Game prices:
Forza Motorsport - $49.99
Destroy all Humans - $49.99
Atari Anthology - $19.99
MechAssualt 2 - $29.99

So assuming no drastic price drops in the top two games, you could get 2 Xbox games that would retail for $100 for only $36. Could be a good deal if you had any plans to buy any of these games, or just happen to actually want to watch something on Showtime.

Get Your Battlefield 2 Stats

Posted in Gaming on July 5th, 2005

This is probably my first post since I have started playing Battlefield 2. Not without it’s flaws, this game is still incrediably addicting. Mainly because the way team play is handled. Well this isn’t a review so I am just going to show you how to get your BF2 stats.

First off a friend sent me this little link they will extract your stats into a flat file.

http://bf2web.gamespy.com/ASP/getplayerinfo.aspx?nick=[YOUR NICK NAME]&info=&debug=tx&transpose=1&nocache=0

Just change [YOUR NICK NAME] to your user name and you will see your stats in a flat file.

To get the same data in a more usable XML file, I installed a PHP script that will generate the stats in XML. Just enter your user name and you will get an XML file of your Battlefield 2 stats.

The uses of this is obvious. Bragging rights, you can show off your stats in the real world. But it’s not presentable yet. Fortunately the good people at Ausgamers.com created a site to graphically view your BF2 stats. It’s still in beta mode however. It’s missing some graphics, mainly the anti-tank icon. And at the time of this writing you can’t lookup your account with your user name. Just your PID. This is where the aforementioned links come in. Click on the above link, enter your user name, and copy your PID. It’s the number right before your user name.

Now either enter your PID on this site or replace [Your PID] with your real PID in this link http://bf2stats.ausgamers.com/stats/[YOUR PID].

As a bonus you can even display your stats on your site or in a signature. Like this:
